A Mother’s Prayer

For years, Shantel’s mother would pray whenever she passed the In Touch building for her daughter to work there. After many years of employment at secular broadcast companies, Shantel is now a Multimedia Content Producer at In Touch and feels it is her calling.

Shantel distinctly remembers watching and reading Dr. Charles Stanley with her mother throughout childhood. Every month she looked forward to receiving the daily devotionals in the mail, carefully reading every page.

Growing up, Shantel related to Dr. Stanley’s familial circumstances and his special relationship with his mother. “He was raised as a single parent,” Shantel says. “Similarly, my mom and I are close, I am an only child, and I felt that connection with him.” Eventually, after Shantel graduated from college, she and her mother began attending First Baptist of Atlanta. They were both searching for a stronger faith and spiritual life, and couldn’t think of a better pastor to lead them than Dr. Stanley.

After years of working in production for secular broadcast companies, Shantel felt a desire to have a platform where she could minister to people. While searching for a job that would fulfill her calling, her mother was petitioning on her behalf as well. “For years my mom would drive by In Touch and she would pray toward the building,'' Shantel says. “‘My daughter's going to work there one day.’ And I had no idea.”

“I wanted to work at In Touch because it's more than just producing … It's really being the light, the hands and feet of Jesus, and sharing those stories and testimonies to encourage others. It’s just such a blessing.”
