Kayla hesitated before applying for a position at In Touch Ministries.
She feared that she didn’t have the necessary experience, but she decided to give it a shot anyway. “It was something I've always wanted to do,” Kayla says. “I applied in a kind of, Oh, wouldn't it be crazy if I got this job in publishing that I've always wanted kind of way.” She sent her cover letter and resume, and the rest is history.
As managing editor of editorial content, Kayla plays an invaluable role in the development of articles for the In Touch website. She works with authors, helping them fine-tune ideas, strive for clarity, even adjust their grammar. Kayla also enjoys strategizing the best ways to promote the articles on social media sites. Writing is her true passion, and her role allows her regular assignments. “I like the ongoing challenge,” Kayla says of her contributions. “Every time you sit down to write something, it's not any easier than before. Each article, each assignment, presents something new. It's always really stimulating work.”

Kayla is also grateful for the friendships she’s gained at In Touch, and how they’ve enriched her understanding of her faith. “My coworkers have challenged me to think about it in a deeper way,” she says. Whether through the articles they write, or in conversations throughout the week, Kayla is examining and leaning ever more into her relationship with Christ.
While Kayla initially felt nervous and unqualified for her position, her time at In Touch has developed her confidence not only as a writer but also as a contributor to the ministry as a whole. “In the beginning I was doubting whether I was actually making a difference,” she says. “But I can see now how the things I’ve written or edited have had a positive impact on people's lives.”
